INTRODUCTION

This business case study unveils the extraordinary collaboration between visionary creators Sisters Grimm, crafting a surreal theatrical world for their VIP Gala Performance and Ministry Venues - Elephant & Castle. The star-studded event hosted esteemed personalities like Jeremy Irons, Alfie Boe, and Joely Richardson. The entrancing world of Sisters Grimm came to life through a strong visual element in the central space, featuring ethereal animations skillfully crafted by Glasyr. The captivating content played throughout the night as an entrancing moving backdrop on an epic seven meters long screen, transporting guests into twisting worlds, scintillating skies, and dramatic floral close-ups.

THE VISION

Sisters Grimm collaborated with Ministry Venues to create a shared vision of a surreal theatrical world for their VIP Gala Performance. The event aimed to mesmerise and captivate guests, offering an immersive and unforgettable experience.

A pivotal element in the central space was the collaboration with Glasyr, bringing the Sisters Grimm's vision to life through ethereal animations. The mesmerising content played throughout the night, transforming the venue into an otherworldly realm that resonated with guests' imaginations.

THE CONVERSION

Creating a theatre from scratch is a hard task, but creating a theatre within an existing venue can prove even more challenging. We went about extending the stage, installing wings and bringing in theatre-styled seating for the audience. We had a build day to be able to test and program the AV as well as complete a full dress rehearsal within the venue. 

The technical requirements for the event were heavy and we hired the requested microphones from FX rental. However; the sound and lighting systems were not bolstered for the event and the in-house equipment surpassed the requirements and created an amazing visual effect for the performances. 

THE ISSUES 

The brief from the client was to convert the venue into a 300 seated capacity space for their showcase. Ministry Venues - Elephant & Castle can indeed seat 300 people theatre style with a stage. However, the expansion of the stage to accommodate large theatre productions then reduced down the capacity within the room. After very careful plans were drawn up we knew that we could only accommodate 150 people theatre style within the space of the performances. After much conversation with the client we decided to run the show twice allowing for additional capacity whilst creating an area for networking for the people not seeing the show. The surreal theatrical world and captivating visuals set the stage for an unforgettable evening, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.
