The Be You Festival by Soho Media Club brought together over 350 media professionals, creators, and industry thinkers at the iconic Ministry of Sound for a one-day event exploring media and entertainment culture, craft, and business. The 2024 edition tackled topics ranging from representation and inclusion to empowering new content creators and addressing mid-level career ceilings.
Guests began the day at The 103, the central hub of the festival, where registration and networking set the tone for the event. The space allowed attendees to connect informally before moving into the main conference sessions.
The Box served as the primary conference space, arranged in a theatre layout with full AV support. The sessions featured a curated lineup of influential speakers, including journalist and presenter Alex Brooker, satirist and producer Munya Chawawa, celebrated drag performer Kitty Scott Claus, and Marcia Williams, Executive Director of Equity & Inclusion at Channel 4. These speakers shared insights and experiences that guided discussions on industry challenges and opportunities for change.
The Baby Box was used for smaller talks and breakout sessions, providing a more intimate setting for hands-on workshops and focused conversations. Meanwhile, The Courtyard hosted networking, catering, and social elements. Attendees were treated to a selection of food and drinks while mingling, creating opportunities for informal discussion and community building.
As the conference sessions concluded, The 103 transitioned into a party space with a DJ, allowing guests to unwind and celebrate the day’s learning and connections. The festival successfully balanced structured content, networking, and cultural experiences across multiple spaces, creating an engaging and memorable event for all attendees.
